One of the recent Internet FADS is texts from dog! All it involves is people adding a contact in there phone called Dog and have a conversation via text! People then take a screenshot of the conversation and upload it to the Internet, normally Facebook and twitter! Again just like the majority of things on the Internet at the moment you are probably thinking it sounds stupid but these are surprisingly funny as its what you imagine a conversation like a dog would be.

If you have not yet seen this commercial made by Dove, now its time to check it out. The video has been spreading like a disease within social media during the last week and has gotten amazing acceptance among viewers. In this video Gil Zamora draws sketches of 7 women founded by their self-description and consequently he draws second pictures based on recollection of a stranger.

The popularity of this commercial has been amazing, only 5 days after releasing the video, it had been shared in Facebook over million times. Even newspapers have been spreading the word about this newest addition to the Doves real beauty campaign.

Because it is crucial to know, what the Kardashians have been up to? Who is getting close with Paris Hilton this time? And has the Brangelina finally split up?

Perez Hilton, a blogger, a man and above all a phenomenon! Perez Hilton writes a hot blog concerning celebrity gossip. Perez has even been named the number one Web celeb, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by the Forbes Magazine, talk about visibility there.. The blog was launched in 2004 and since than has become a one of the leading site for celebrity gossip and news with no less than a 300 million hits during one month. The blog has become an spectacular phenomenon, people are reading it, talking about it and addicted to it. Perez Hilton has payed visits to several popular TV-shows in the U.S and has also written two bestsellers, Perez Hilton's red carpet suicide and Perez Hilton's true bloggywood stories. A businessman is always a businessman.

#Music is Twitters venture into the music side of social media. The new app which was launched this week lets the user delve into the music that is popular on twitter and also what their friends are listening to.

The app lets you instantly listen to a song from the artist inside the app through your spotify, itunes or Rdio. The app has four parts to it. Firstly, the Twitter Charts, this is where the most popular music lives. However, in terms of discovering music, this part is useless as its looks like a rundown of the top 40. The emerging chart is much more useful for people looking to increase their musical knowledge which gives you a chart of new music based on who you follow on twitter. There is also a suggested tab but this is too similar to the emerging chart and therefore not as good. Also you can listen to tracks by artists you already follow in the final tab.

So what are Paddy's thoughts on this app. Well, the emerging chart is very good and the other tabs to serve a purpose. However, this is only as enjoyable with a Spotify subscription and therefore not everyone can use it. Will this be a new part of social media or will it just be another fad. We will just have to wait and see.

Meat cake by EPIC MEAL TIME

For all those how don't some how know, EPIC MEAL TIME is an Canadian YouTube cooking series show famous for cooking ridiculously unhealthy, meaty foods, basically always made from meat and bacon is the main star of the show. The show was born on October 2012 and it releases a show every Tuesday and it has millions of viewers every week. The shows popularity is based on the power of social media, as the crowd has been sharing these funny clips for a while now.

A horrible tragedy located at Boston marathon on the 15th of April 2013 happened when a bomb was exploded close to the marathon. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

The reaction in the Internet followed the dreadful incidence only after couple of minutes after it had happened. A numerous amounts of photographs, videos and news started to spread in the social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. On the 15th of April, the phrase "Boston marathon" was tweeted 2,910,316 times, can you believe that? At the moment, the #prayforboston reaches 1,051,372 photos posted on the behalf of people, all around the world in Instagram.

Memes are often born from silly and fun events, but this shows, that they are also a convention to bring crowds together after global tragedies.

So people, lets  #prayforboston!

This blog post is a follow up from celebrities with no teeth..

These pictures follow a similar concept to celebrities with no teeth but instead of their teeth been photoshopped out, their eyebrows are missing. These pictures were circling the Internet a few weeks ago and Facebook and twitter pages were set up in their honour. Recently there hasn't been any new ones floating about which just highlights that the majority of things on the Internet have a short shelf life.

Song Pop

There once was a time where friends could challenge each other's musical knowledge, enjoying round after round of melodic goodness. Whether it's 80's Classics, Power Ballads, Rock Anthems or Pop (to name a few), hours of fun were to be had whilst playing the iPhone/iPad  app.

Unfortunately however, this game also proved purely to be nothing more than an internet FAD which has now been cast into the darkness along with the many other App FADS.

The newest meme that has taken social media by storm is the goat meme. Basically there is a funny picture of a goat and then a hilarious play on words with the word goat, here are some examples:















As you can see the goat meme makers use anything as their muse, whether it's a celebrity, such as Florence Welch above or as mentioned in a previous blog, Sweet Brown who is a youtube sensation or just a cute little goat. Lets hope they keep these memes coming to keep us all entertained!

OK GO!: Music Video Fad!

In the big bad world of the music industry, it is sometimes hard for a band to be noticed, firstly, by a record label,but also by the general public. Sometimes they might go for a gimmick like they all being from the same family a la The Corrs or be The White Stripes and have the weird dilemma of them either being brother and sister or married, MAD I KNOW!

However, one band took the route of having interesting and out of this world kind of videos. Their debut song A Million Ways was the first in a long line of videos. The video concept was the band in the one of the members back garden doing a dance routine and it only took one take.

 

Their second video was probably their most famous and involved the use of treadmills where again a dance routine was created but this time the added danger of the treadmills was added to make the video a lot cooler and much more popular   

 

The bands popularity was so high with all their millions of views on You Tube that they even collaborated on a music video with The Muppets!

Their popularity seems to have died down as the Internet moves away from OK GO but we will always have the memories of the dancing and the treadmills!

One million likes! Facebook is becoming a Santa!

What an brilliant idea? Just write your wish on a cupboard and share your wishes in Facebook, genius.
On January 2003, the Cordell kids were wise enough to wish for a puppy in Facebook, all they needed was a 1 million likes, EASY! It took only 7 hours to get those. I believe that their daddy was a shocked after this pull..

Well, they got their puppy before Christmas, thanks to the almighty Facebook. But the story continues.. After the visibility and popularity of this pull, people all around the world started to share their wishes in  Facebook with parodies of the children s handmade signs, and oh boy did people start to share these wishes..Payoffs, sex, trips to Maldives, cars.. everything was asked for.

Celebrities With No Teeth

Anyone who is a frequent social media has bound to come across the recent Internet FAD of celebrities with no teeth. The concept is as simple as it sounds, someone has taken pictures or random celebrities and removed their teeth through photoshop. Sounds pretty stupid (which it is) but it doesn't mean that it's not funny!

This FAD just also brings to light the fact that their are far too many people in the world with too much time on their hands, not that we are complaining!

Draw Something

Once upon a time...not too long ago....there was a game which gripped the global smart phone market.

It's name; Draw Something.

The purpose of the game was as follows; to create an illustration which relates to the word provided by the game, e.g if it instructs you to draw a "dog", then you draw a dog.

The game is as high or low involvement as you would like it to be. In other words, if you wished to spend hours perfectly shading and cross-hatching on your image of a dog, then you are at liberty to do so. On the contrary, if you wish to just compose a mere scribble and attempt to pass it off as a dog, then you can also do so.

However, the game has most definitely fallen by the way-side, with very few playing it now.

Caution: Scary Content!!

At some point in your life you will have no doubt been sent an email from a friend or they have sent you a link saying "check this video out, its really funny!" or "check this video out, it's really cool!" etc, etc, and as they are a reputable source you would be inclined to go and have a look and see what they're talking about. The video will be a short clip and you'll wait to see where it is going than BOOOMM a horrible creepy face will appear, usually a clown or a scary masked person and you will no doubt let out a yelp or throw your laptop up in the air. Most famously demonstrated in 2006 when what was supposed to be a car advert was actually just a prank and a scary screaming zombie appears at the end!!

Another famous example of this would be a clip on a famous American show called Larry King Live, which is showing you around Michael Jackson's mansion after his death and you see a shadow walk across the hall, the rest i will leave up to you to go and see the outcome, although you might already have an idea what happens?!

Thankfully these kind of scary videos have gone into decline now and their popularity peaked in 2006, there is only so long these types of videos can circulate before people start to click on to what is going to happen next!

Who's the Top Dog in terms of Blogs: POHTPOF

One thing this blog hasn't done yet is look at other blogs and admire their excellence. This is wrong and therefore, over the next few days, we will share with you lovely people what we think are the best blogs out there in the dangerous world of the Internet. We may even pick ourselves a winner and give them a virtual high five HUZZAH!

The first blog that Paddy stumbled upon this week was that of Pictures of Hipsters taking pictures of food. The concept for the blog is simple, we all hate the craze that hipsters have started, the one where they take pictures of every meal before eating it then posting it on the social media website of their choice. Well, this blog gets back at these rebels of society by taking pictures of them taking pictures of their food( WHERE IS THE XZIBIT MEME WHEN YOU NEED IT!). The blog idea is excellent and therefore is a very funny blog. I will post my favourite pictures from the blog followed by the link so you lovely people can have a look for yourselves

David After The Dentist

In this YouTube video you see 7 year old David DeVore who has just been at the dentist having surgery. The video was uploaded by the boys father to show the boy in a medicated state after the surgery resulting in a hilarious video. Some people have criticised the video for exploiting the child for laughs but David himself isn't bothered by all the attention the video has brought. Davids father has now started selling t-shirts with the classic line 'Is This Real Life?' that David says in the video which has allowed him to make enough money to cover the costs of his eventual college education.

The Google street view has provided an excellent tool for a big bunch of people getting around all over the world BUT also it has provided people a lot of laughter and awesome amazement among us. Photobombing

Everyone loves a good family photo or a picture with their mates to cherish that special moment. However, these special moments are now being ruined by a new phenomenon, this phenomenon is called Photobomobing

The concept of photoboming is to find someone trying to take a photo and try to sneak into the back of the photo to successfully ruin the photo. It can result in some hilarious photos which will become more memorable than that boring family photo. Here are some of the best photobombs!

Chubby Cup Cake Boy

In 2008 Sam Allred's video of him singing the cuppy cake song become quite the YouTube sensation, with everyone referring to him as "the very cute and chubby boy on the internet." As cute and funny as it was people did begin to wonder if it was normal for such a young boy to be so overweight and if he did have a genuine problem, turns out he does have a rare kidney disease which really makes you wonder if the parents put this video up, why would you do such a thing, leaving him open to such negative comments?! For the fame possibly? Maybe to help gain exposure for his disease? Either way it does seem a bit of a crazy way to spread the word about his rare condition. However, there has been a positive from this, now at the age of 13, Sam has written a book to help other people who may be battling with the disease also. Just goes to show what a crazy world we live in and the lengths people are willing to go to, to get their 15 minutes of fame!

Sophia Grace, Biggest Nicki Minaj Fan?!

Sophia Grace Brownlee is an 8 year old girl from England who went viral after her parents posted a video of her singing/ rapping to Nicki Minaj "super bass" on YouTube. She's an excellent singer and has all the moves to go with the song as well! This video was a serious hit in America and Sophia along with her cousin Rosie(who is there for some moral support when she performs) have been on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in America several times now. Sophia has met one of her favourite singers, Nicki Minaj, as a result of being on the show and been to several red carpet events, all just at the age of 8, a life I'm sure many people are jealous of, myself included!! Just goes to show what a bit of talent and being in the right place at the right time can result in, although she seems to have stopped singing for the time being I have no doubt her and her cousin will pop back up in a few years times when they are maybe at a more suitable age to deal with all the fame, having too much too young is a slippery slope in Hollywood!!
